Mingei / PechaKucha

Ynez Johnston at the Mingei runs until June 17,2012
If you have been blowing it and haven't made it to the San Diego's Craft Revolution exhibit yet,
now would be the time to go.  You can also catch the Ynez Johnston and Northern Stars: Twentieth Century Finnish Design.

Johnston 1940's fishy

Bad cell phone photo of a really great 50's piece by Johnston

Crazy detail

I'm generally not a Scandi guy, but some of those Finns were pretty good.

Keith York of Modern San Diego did his 20 x 20 PechaKucha on
modern structures that have been destroyed over the years in San Diego.

Keith dedicated his presentation to Eugene Weston III, who recently passed on.
Eugene was an amazing architect and designer. Early in his career he worked with Alvin Lustig, designed
furniture for Modern Color Inc and did a couple covers for Arts & Architecture. He was also responsible
some great architecture. A list of projects can be found here: Eugene Weston projects
